Hyundai Motor has recalled 1,744 of its Ioniq 5 electric vehicles. All of these vehicles were manufactured between July 21, 2022, and April 30, 2024. In January 2023, the business introduced the Ioniq 5. Why has Hyundai recalled this automobile, and what features does it have?

Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a premium electric SUV model. The basic ex-showroom pricing for this vehicle is Rs 46.05 lakh. It features a 72.6 kW battery and can drive up to 631 kilometers after a single charge. This car's electric powertrain can generate up to 214.56 horsepower. In just 18 minutes, this car may be charged to 10-80% capacity.

Hyundai has cited the ICCU problem as the reason for recalling so many units of Ioniq 5. The company says that due to the ICCU problem, the 12V battery in the cars can get damaged. Therefore, these vehicles have been recalled for investigation and repair. No cost will be taken from the users for this investigation and repair. If you also have an Ioniq 5 EV and want to know whether your vehicle is part of the recall or not, contact your vehicle dealership to know this.

The Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) installed in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a system that converts the high voltage of the main battery into low voltage. This low voltage helps in charging the second battery of the car i.e. the 12V battery. A problem with this is that the car's battery may get damaged.
