Employment market improvement: Job applications increased by 30 percent, good share of women
According to a report by professional networking platform Apna, a record 1.81 crore job applications were received in the January-March quarter. This figure is 30 percent more on an annual basis. This shows India's growing economic optimism and a jump in digital recruitment in all sectors.

Employment opportunities in the country have recorded a significant rise during the first quarter of 2025 i.e., from January to March. Applications for jobs have risen by 30 percent, where there was a significant share of women applicants.
According to a report by professional networking platform Apna, a record 1.81 crore job applications were received in the January-March quarter. This figure is 30 percent more on an annual basis. This shows India's growing economic optimism and a jump in digital recruitment in all sectors. Apart from this, flexible working, inclusive recruitment process and increasing employment opportunities in medium and small cities have also increased the number of women in the workforce.
According to the report, applications from women in the March quarter rose 23% year-on-year to over 62 lakh. This growth was most visible in tier-2 and tier-3 cities like Chandigarh, Indore and Jamshedpur. Freshers made over 66 lakh applications in the March quarter, which is 46% more than a year ago. Meanwhile, employers invited applications for 3.1 lakh positions, which is 26% more year-on-year.
