Mahant Swami Maharaj, the spiritual leader of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, landed in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday to attend the official opening of the country's first Hindu temple (UAE). The first Hindu temple in the Gulf nation will be inaugurated under the historic direction of the spiritual leader. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the temple on February 14, a few days after the 'Pran Pratishtha' of the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Mahant Swami Maharaj was warmly welcomed as a state guest by Sheikh Nahyan Mabarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance of the UAE. Welcoming the spiritual leader, the minister said, "Welcome to the UAE. Our country is blessed by your presence. We are touched by your kindness and we feel your prayers."

As soon as the BAPS spiritual leader arrived in Abu Dhabi, many senior members and devotees of the Swaminarayan Sanstha also came to welcome him. Prime Minister Modi is going to inaugurate the temple on February 14 in the presence of saints, swamis and thousands of devotees. An atmosphere of religious enthusiasm and celebration has already been established with the arrival of thousands of devotees in the huge complex.

Additionally, Modi will speak to the Indian diaspora at Abu Dhabi's opulent Sheikh Zayed Sports Stadium. "The event titled 'Ahlan Modi' is expected to be attended by over 50,000 people." 'Ahlan Modi' translates to 'Hello Modi'. This programme is regarded as the prime minister's largest welcome to the community overseas.

The BAPS Temple is noteworthy for being the first Hindu temple erected in the Middle East. Since the beginning of the construction project in 2019. The global Hindu community became interested in it and paid attention to it. Indian culture will be reflected in the grand complex situated in the Abu Murikha area. It will also serve as evidence of the developing friendship between the United Arab Emirates and India.

The foundation stone of the temple was laid on April 20, 2019. Many volunteers from the Hindu community participated in the construction of the state-of-the-art complex, built using only white marble and limestone. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, donated 13.5 acres of land in 2015 for the construction of the temple.
