Air India flight coming from Toronto to Delhi diverted to Frankfurt due to toilet, second such case in 2 months
The flight coming from Toronto to Delhi has been diverted to Frankfurt. The plane had taken off about 6 hours ago, when the airlines company had to take such a decision. The toilets of this Air India flight coming to Delhi are blocked. This is the second such case in two months when an Air India plane has been diverted.

Air India flight, which was flying in from Toronto to Delhi, has been diverted to Frankfurt. In fact, the toilets of this Air India flight to Delhi are clogged. The aircraft took off approximately 6 hours ago when this issue arose in the toilet. Because of this, the flight to Delhi was diverted to Frankfurt. Following this, the spokesperson of Air India was reached.
The Air India spokesperson responded to being contacted by stating that the flight was diverted as there was a technical snag. Sources in the airlines said that flight AI188 was diverted to Frankfurt because there was a problem with some of the toilets. It waited for a few hours and returned to Delhi.
This was the second instance in less than two months when Air India's wide-body plane was forced to turn back halfway because of clogging in the toilets.
Earlier on March 6, flight AI126 from Chicago to Delhi returned to the US city after being in the air for more than 10 hours due to the same problem. On May 2, flight AI188, flying non-stop from Toronto to Delhi, was diverted to Frankfurt due to a technical problem.
According to information available on flight tracking website Flightradar24.com, the flight was operated by a Boeing 7770-337 (ER) aircraft. According to information received from the Planespotters.net website, this aircraft was 15.8 years old.
A source had said that due to the old fleet and passenger behavior, Air India planes are facing problems in operating on ultra-long-haul routes. Most widebody planes flying on US and Canada routes are old, which leads to plumbing issues.
The pipes are old and interconnected, and whenever a waste tank gets clogged, it blocks half of the toilets on the plane. The source said that generally, there are two tanks on a widebody plane to which these toilet pipes are connected. Moreover, the source said that some passengers carelessly throw garbage in the toilets, which leads to the system getting clogged.
