Sikkim Transport Department has informed that an Artificial Intelligence-driven (AI-driven) traffic management system will be launched in the state from May 25. The system aims to modernize traffic management and improve regulation efficiency by automatically verifying documents and detecting violations.
This information notice has been issued by the Transport Department. The notice states that with an aim to modernize traffic management and increase the efficiency and accuracy of traffic regulation, the Government of Sikkim is introducing an Artificial Intelligence-powered traffic management system.
A notice issued by the department said, "All vehicle owners (including government vehicles) are informed to keep all the documents of their vehicle updated. If any person has to submit any information including e-challan. If there is any problem then the RTO or Superintendent of Police of the district can be contacted for its solution.
According to reports, in the first phase, the administration will install this system at 16 places across Sikkim. After which feedback will be taken from the police and on the same basis the second phase will be started. In the first phase, an Artificial Intelligence system will be installed at four places in Gangtok.
An e-challan for the vehicle will be generated if any deficiencies are discovered in the insurance, PUC, fitness, and other documents of vehicles that are currently in use. This new artificial intelligence-based system will check the documents of motor vehicles automatically. In addition, this system can monitor not only vehicles that are not moving in their designated lane but also red light jumping and speed limit violations.
