Travis Head gave more importance to Sam Konstas than himself for WTC 2025 Final
WTC 2025 Final: The promotion of Travis Head as an opener in the first Test against England, as well as the exclusion of Sam Konstas and the inclusion of debutant Josh Inglis, has sparked a lot of debate in Australia.

Australia batsman Travis Head has hinted at a return to the middle order for the World Test Championship (WTC) final at Lord's. With this, he has expressed hope that young Sam Konstas will regain his opening position with veteran Usman Khawaja for the crucial match against South Africa.
Travis Head justified Australia's bold selection in dropping Sam Konstas for the first Test in Sri Lanka when he smashed a 35-ball fifty in the opening, taking Australia to a convincing win over the hosts.
The promotion of Travis Head to the opening role, dropping Sam Konstas, and adding a new face Josh Inglis, have aroused a lot of controversy in Australia. Despite all the talks, deputy captain Travis Head exhibited confidence that 19-year-old Sam Konstas can make it to the South African tour in June at Lord's.
"Most likely I'll be back in the middle order and Sam will open, but I'm glad I'm not a selector. Josh Inglis has made a great start, the guys are playing well, Greenie (Cameron Green) is going to be fit," Travis Head told the Sydney Morning Herald ahead of the second Test on Thursday.
"So it will be hard to get fit and I think that's what we want. We want an Australian cricket team that's hard to get into, where everyone is pushing for a place. That's where the pressure comes from, trying to keep your place in every Test, knowing there are people behind you. So we're in a strong position," he added. It is better to talk about seven or eight batsmen rather than three or four." Head reiterated that he is unlikely to open in Test matches in seaming conditions.
He said, "Given the situation we are in, it is not possible. I have spoken to Ron and Pat, they know what position I am in and I will do anything according to their need. But I am in the position they want to see me in. As long as I remain consistent in that position and try to do as well as I can, it is great, but given the situation we have been in the last two years, I will hardly be able to open in Australia. I think the middle order is the right place for me in Australia."
