Pakistan's only para-athlete, Haider Ali, has left for Paris. He pocketed gold with a throw of 55.26 meters in discus throw in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. Following his splendid achievement, Haider Ali will now be contesting in the upcoming Paris Paralympics in the French capital alongside his coach Akbar Ali. The tournament is set to be officially inaugurated on August 28 with the opening ceremony.

A native of Gujranwala, Haider Ali will compete for Pakistan on 6th September in the discus throw in the F37 category. Other than the gold in the Tokyo Olympics, Haider won a silver medal in the long jump in the 2008 Beijing Paralympics and then went on to win bronze in the same event in the 2016 Rio Paralympics. He missed out on the 2012 London Paralympics due to injury.

Yasir Pirzada, Director General of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), announced that Haider will once again represent Pakistan at this year's Paralympics. Pirzada expressed confidence in his abilities to win a medal and said, "We are proud to send Haider Ali to the Paralympics once again. His exceptional talent and dedication make him a top contender for another medal, and we are confident that he will make Pakistan proud again."
