Sensex Opening Bell: The 30-share Sensex of BSE rose 290.46 points to 80,809.80 points in early trade. NSE Nifty was at a new record level of 24,598 points with a gain of 95.85 points.

The stock market was on a bull run in early trading on Monday. While Nifty scaled a fresh, all-time high at around 10:15 am, the Sensex surged about 290 points. The gains in the domestic bourse were also bolstered by an uptick in global markets.

The 30-share Sensex of the BSE rose 290.46 points to 80,809.80 points in early trade. NSE Nifty was at a new record level of 24,598 points with a gain of 95.85 points. Among the companies listed on the Sensex, HCL's shares rose by more than three percent. Other than this, IT and infrastructure-related stocks surged.

The global oil benchmark, Brent crude futures, quoted 0.20 percent higher at 85.20 US dollars per barrel. On the domestic front, the rupee weakened by four paise to 83.55 against the US dollar in early trade on Monday amid the strength of the US currency in the foreign market and the rise in crude oil prices.

Forex traders mentioned that the rupee got some support from the positive trend in domestic stock markets and foreign capital inflows, as there was a limited decline in the rupee.
