PM Modi will visit Laos on 10-11 October and participate in the 21st ASEAN-India Summit
MEA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Vientiane on 10-11 October at the invitation of Lao People's Democratic Republic Prime Minister Sonex Siphandon. He will participate in the 21st ASEAN-India Summit and the 19th East Asia Summit here.
On 10-11 October, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting the capital of Laos, Vientiane. As per the information from the Ministry of External Affairs, his visit is at the invitation of Prime Minister Sonex Siphandon of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
Further, according to the Ministry of External Affairs, "At the invitation of H.E. Mr. Sonexay Siphandone, Prime Minister of Lao People's Democratic Republic, PM Modi will visit Lao PDR to participate in the 21st ASEAN-India Summit and the 19th East Asia Summit." It is worth noting that Laos is currently chairing ASEAN.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also visited Laos in July. He came here to attend the meetings of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Here, he also met Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone in Vientiane.
ASEAN's 10 member countries are Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, Philippines, Singapore, Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia. Jaishankar met with his New Zealand counterpart, Winston Peters, on Friday to discuss education, agricultural technology, the Pacific Islands, and cricket.
