After beating the record of the former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, Mohammad Rizwan became the fastest Pakistani wicketkeeper to complete 2000 Test runs. Rizwan achieved this feat on Friday during the second day of the third Test against England. He did it in 57 innings, which is just two innings less than Sarfaraz when he achieved the feat in 59 innings.

The 32-year-old-struggling Test player Rizwan was 16 runs behind completing 2000 Test runs before this match. Rizwan got a chance to achieve this feat after the captain Shan Masood was dismissed off Shoaib Bashir. He had shown his aggressive intention right from the beginning of the innings off Jack Leach with a six, but could not maintain the momentum and was sent back to the pavilion by Rehan Ahmed after scoring 25 runs off 46 balls with the help of four and a six.

Pakistan was struggling at the score of 187/7 in 62 overs by lunch. Rizwan scored an undefeated 171 and 51 in the first Test match against Bangladesh at Rawalpindi, which was his final Test century. He couldn't play well and failed to make a half-century in the final four Test matches, including the opening two against England.

In the second session before lunch, Rehan claimed two more wickets from Pakistan: Agha Salman (1) and Aamir Jamal (14) respectively. In the first innings, Sajid Khan and Noman Ali took over out England for 267 runs while taking 9 wickets between them. Sajid continued to play well in the series, taking six wickets for 128 runs.
