Large-scale income tax raids continue in Andaman, department gave information
Income Tax Raid: An income tax team from Kolkata is raiding several offices in Church Road, Phoenix Bay, Marine Hills, Aberdeen Bazar, and Dilanipur areas of Port Blair. Search operations are also going on in Babu Lane and Jungleghat areas.
More than 120 officers of the Income Tax Department are conducting searches at several places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. A senior official gave this information on Saturday. The Income Tax officer said that the search started on December 4 due to suspected irregularities in filing returns by some businessmen of the islands and the action is still going on.
The official said, "An income tax team from Kolkata is raiding several offices in Church Road, Phoenix Bay, Marine Hills, Aberdeen Bazar and Dilanipur areas of Port Blair. Search operations are also going on in Babu Lane and Jungleghat areas."
He also added that similar raids were ongoing in offices located at MG Road and Gurudwara Lane as well. "This is an operation well-planned, and we will go for further revealing it. We have doubts of irregularities relating to returns and issues related to the Goods and Services Tax (GST)," he explained.
