Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal has moved the High Court, filing an appeal for an extension of his interim medical bail
Naresh Goyal: Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal (75) has filed an application seeking an extension of interim medical bail. The petition states that his medical condition remains poor and he also lost his wife due to cancer on May 16.
Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal has moved the Bombay High Court against the two-month interim medical bail earlier granted to him. The High Court had on May 6 granted Goyal a two-month interim bail on medical grounds.
Goyal has now filed an application seeking an extension of this period. It has been mentioned in the petition that his medical condition remains poor, and he even lost his wife to cancer on May 16.
The application came up for hearing on Tuesday before a single bench of Justice Manish Pitale. The court referred to a circular issued by the high court in February, which said, "Applications which were considered and decided earlier by a particular judge shall be placed before the same Bench. ".
Justice Pitale has directed that the application by Goyal be placed before a single bench of Justice NJ Jamadar in the registry department of the high court. According to his counsel, Abad Ponda and Ameet Naik, the plea would come up for mention on Wednesday before Justice Jamadar. The ED arrested Goyal in September 2023 for laundering and diverting Rs538.62 crore of loans from Canara Bank for Jet Airways. His wife, Anita Goyal, was arrested in November 2023 when the ED filed its chargesheet in the case. The special court granted him bail the same day, considering his age and medical condition. He died on May 16.
