It is an experiment to help scientists understand how to grow plants in space, further helping in long space operations.
The space research organization has shared this information on social media X. ISRO wrote, 'Beginning of life in space! VSSC's CROPS (Compact Research Module for Orbital Plant Studies) experiment was conducted successfully on PSLV-C60 POEM-4. Cowpea seeds germinated in four days, leaves expected to come out soon.' Along with SpaDeX, 24 payloads on research and development have also been sent.
ISRO has launched two small satellites from a PSLV rocket weighing 229 tonnes under the SpaDeX mission. These satellites will dock and undocking at an altitude of 470 kilometers. According to ISRO officials, the success of this mission will make India's dreams of upcoming missions like Chandrayaan-4, its own space station, and an Indian traveler landing on the moon come true.
