IND vs AUS: Australian team announced for ODI series, Tahlia McGrath made captain
India Women vs Australia Women: Australia women's cricket team has been announced for the upcoming three-match ODI series against the Indian women's cricket team. Tahlia McGrath has been made the captain.
The Australian team has been announced for the upcoming three-match ODI series against the Indian women's cricket team on Saturday. Tahlia McGrath has been given the command in place of Alyssa Healy of the Australia women's cricket team.
Alyssa Healy has not yet recovered from the injury she suffered during the Women's Big Bash League. She is expected to be fit for the ODI series against New Zealand next month. Australia Cricket's Head of Performance (Women's Cricket) and national selector Shawn Flegler said, "The decision to keep Alyssa Healy out of the series against India has been taken with a long-term view of the Ashes. Her availability for the New Zealand series will be clear in the next few weeks." He further said that Tahlia McGrath has impressed with her brilliant performance during the World Cup. She will be supported by Ash Gardner, who has emerged as a very strong leader on and off the field.
Australia will then play three ODIs against India in Brisbane and Perth from December 5-11 before playing three ODIs against T20 World Cup champions New Zealand in Wellington, starting from December 19-23.
All six matches form part of the ICC Women's Championship, where Australia currently lead the table with 28 points from 18 matches and have already qualified for the 2025 Women's ODI World Cup to be staged in India. The top five teams and hosts India will qualify directly for the ODI World Cup, with the remaining four teams featuring in the qualifying event.
