GST collection increased by 12.6 percent year-on-year to an all-time high of ₹2.37 lakh crore in April. The government announced the figures pertaining to this last Thursday. As mentioned in the figures given by the government, Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection in April 2024 was Rs 2.10 lakh crore. This was the second-highest since GST was implemented on 01 July 2017. The collection of GST was Rs 1.96 lakh crore in March 2025.

GST data shows that revenue from domestic transactions grew by 10.7 per cent to nearly Rs 1.9 lakh crore. At the same time, revenue from imported goods grew by 20.8 per cent to Rs 46,913 crore. The amount of refunds issued during April grew by 48.3 per cent to Rs 27,341 crore. After adjusting for refunds, net GST collection in April grew by 9.1 per cent to over Rs 2.09 lakh crore.
