Good news for those graduating, unemployment rate reduced by 13.4% from July 2022 to June 2023

Big and good news is coming out regarding employment in the country. According to a government survey, unemployment among graduating students has reduced. According to the survey, the unemployment rate among graduates aged 15 years and above has decreased to 13.4 percent in 2022-23, which was 14.9 percent a year ago.

According to the latest Periodic Labor Force Survey (PLFS) conducted by the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation, Chandigarh had the lowest unemployment rate among graduates aged 15 years and above during 2022-23 at 5.6 percent. Delhi was in second place with 5.7 percent.

According to the data, Andaman and Nicobar Islands have the highest unemployment rate at 33 percent, followed by Ladakh at 26.5 percent and Andhra Pradesh at 24 percent. Talking about big states, the unemployment rate in Rajasthan is 23.1 percent and in Odisha, it is 21.9 percent. NSSO started the Periodic Labor Force Survey (PLFS) in April 2017.

The ministry has released five-year reports based on data collected in PLFS during July 2017-June 2018, July 2018-June 2019, July 2019-June 2020, July 2020-June 2021, and July 2021-June 2022. The currently released report is the sixth report.

Field work for collecting information in respect of samples allotted for the period July 2022-June 2023 was completed on time for the first visit as well as revisited samples, except 51 first visits and 68 revisit FSUs for the State.
