For the first time, all women soldiers deployed on the India-Bangladesh border wished Happy Independence Day

The all-women unit of the Border Security Force (BSF) fed sweets and wished the female Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) personnel of Bangladesh deployed on the front line as part of the traditional Independence Day celebrations held on the international border. This is the first time that greetings have been exchanged between women border guards at the border post from both countries. High alert continues on the India-Bangladesh border since the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government in Bangladesh.

A six-member team of the 32nd Battalion of the BSF monitored the international border in Nadia district. Officials said that these personnel are of constable rank. The women's team of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), which took part in the traditional ceremony held in the morning, is attached to the 6th battalion of the Bangladeshi force deployed under the Darshana border outpost of Bangladesh. Commandant of 32nd Battalion BSF Sujeet Kumar said, "The exchange of greetings and distribution of sweets is a symbol of mutual respect and cordiality between the two border forces. This is a tradition that has been performed for the first time by women personnel."

During the ceremony, both sides shook hands and wished for the continued prosperity of their respective countries, and expressed commitment to strong bilateral relations between them. A senior officer said that the exchange of sweets and greetings between the two forces traditionally takes place during the national festivals of both the countries like Independence Day and Republic Day as well as major festivals like Diwali and Eid.
