This year, the wedding season will start on 23rd November, Dev Uthan Ekadashi, and will continue till 15th December. According to an estimate, during this period, about 35 lakh weddings will be solemnized across the country, in which wedding shopping and various types of wedding-related services will take place. A huge expenditure of about Rs 4.25 lakh crore is likely to be incurred this season.

According to a survey conducted by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), more than 3.5 lakh weddings are expected to take place in Delhi alone this season, which is likely to generate business worth around Rs 1 lakh crore in Delhi. During the same period last year, about 32 lakh marriages took place and the expenditure was estimated at Rs 3.75 lakh crore.

Chairman of CAT's Spiritual and Vedic Knowledge Committee and renowned Vedic scholar Acharya Durgesh Tare said that according to the calculations of constellations, the dates of marriage in November are 23,24,27,28,29, whereas, in the month of December, they are 3,4,7, 8, 9 and 15 are auspicious days for marriage. After that, the star sets for a month till mid-January and then auspicious days will start from mid-January.

It is estimated that overall in this one month, there will be an inflow of around Rs 4.25 lakh crore in the markets due to wedding purchases during the wedding season. The next phase of the wedding season will start in mid-January and will continue till July. In view of the good business prospects in the wedding season, businessmen across the country have made extensive preparations.

Before the wedding season, there is a huge amount of business in repairing houses and painting houses. Apart from this, there is the business of jewelry, sarees, lehenga-chunni, furniture readymade clothes, etc. Apart from this, there is demand for dry fruits, sweets, fruits, puja materials, groceries, food grains, decorative items, home decor items, electrical utilities, and electronics.
