DGCA removed special monitoring from SpiceJet, gave this reason
DGCA: On September 13, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had placed the airline under the monitoring system, as the airline's discharge of mandatory obligations related to aircraft maintenance was affected due to financial constraints.
SpiceJet was removed from special monitoring, according to the aviation regulator DGCA on Tuesday. The airline has made efforts to address the shortcomings and has raised money to fulfill its commitments.
The airline was placed under monitoring on September 13 by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) because of financial limitations affecting the carrier's ability to fulfill necessary responsibilities relating to aircraft maintenance.
In a statement, the DGCA stated that the regulator carried out 266 inspections at different locations as part of the monitoring system. About the incident, according to the regulator, due corrective measures have been taken by the airline regarding deficiencies pointed out during the spot checks.
"Considering this and the infusion of additional funds into the company, SpiceJet is being taken out of the monitoring regime," the DGCA said. Crisis-hit SpiceJet had last month raised Rs 3,000 crore from institutional investors and has subsequently cleared several dues, paid pending salaries to employees and entered into settlements with some aircraft lessors. SpiceJet shares were trading over 1.66 per cent higher at Rs 66.80 on the BSE in midday trade on Tuesday.
