CHARGE ZONE® Marks World Environment Day with ‘Shwa’, Bringing Climate and Culture to India’s Highway Supercharging Network

India | June 6, 2025 : On the occasion of World Environment Day, CHARGE ZONE®, India’s largest electric vehicle charging network, launches ‘Shwa’, a visionary public art initiative that reimagined EV Supercharging stations as cultural landmarks bringing together sustainability, community, and creativity through large scale murals.   Developed in collaboration with acclaimed and emerging Indian artists, Shwa transforms utilitarian charging spaces into open air galleries with each mural exploring what a sustainable India looks like, rooted in local stories, regional aesthetics, and climate hope.   “EV charging stations are a gateway to the future of mobility and with Shwa, we’re using them to tell stories that matter,” said Kartikey Hariyani, Founder & CEO, CHARGE ZONE®. “We’re starting with just three murals across our Supercharging stations, but in the next six months we aim to bring this experience to 10–12 more sites. Over the next five to six years, our ambition is to create a few hundred such installations across the country. This is not just about infrastructure, it's about sparking emotional connection and climate consciousness through art that speaks to everyone.  I am thankful to our young team of millennials and GenZ for conceptualizing and seeding the process from idea to execution”.   The project begins with murals at Karjan, Gujarat, and Suryapet, Telangana , created by a leading artist, Rahul Kumawat. These large format artworks will be placed only at CHARGE ZONE®’s Supercharging stations locations, where travelers typically spend more time allowing space for deeper engagement with the artwork and its message.  “Infrastructure should serve more than just function, it should inspire,” said Devbrat Hariyani, Project Shwa Head, CHARGE ZONE®. “ With Shwa, we’re creating spaces where culture, community, and climate intersect. These murals are invitations to slow down, to think, and to feel. Over time, as hundreds of these works bloom along our highways, we hope to create an evolving living archive that’s open to everyone.”   Each mural includes a discreet QR code that links travelers to the newly launched Shwa microsite (shwa.chargezone.co.in), a dynamic digital archive featuring high resolution images, artist profiles, and stories behind each artwork. The site highlights themes of climate resilience and local heritage, offering downloadable media assets to make the conversation accessible to all. This living repository celebrates public art along India’s electric highway network while giving artists full creative freedom to express sustainability, regional identity, and the urgency of climate action in their own unique voices.   As India accelerates its transition to electric mobility, Shwa brings culture and creativity into the fast lane, reminding us that the journey to sustainability is as much about meaning as it is about movement.   About CHARGE ZONE® CHARGE ZONE® is one of the few companies globally with integrated technology and engineering capabilities to build fast EV charging networks for electric cars, buses, and trucks.
