Boeing: Boeing has issued a statement saying that this is the first time such work is being done in India in terms of maintenance of aircraft. This reflects the growth of India's indigenous capabilities in terms of complex maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services.

US aerospace giant Boeing has partnered with India's AI Engineering Services Limited to provide overhaul services to the Indian Navy's fleet of 12 P-8I maritime surveillance aircraft.

Boeing India said on Tuesday, "As part of the partnership, the first landing gear overhaul of the P-8I aircraft was recently completed at the naval base INS Rajali in Tamil Nadu."

Boeing said in a statement, "This is the first time such work is being done in India in terms of maintenance of aircraft. This reflects the growth of India's indigenous capabilities in terms of complex maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services."

The Boeing P-8I is a multi-role Long Range Maritime Reconnaissance Anti-Submarine Warfare (LRMR ASW) aircraft.

Salil Gupte, President, Boeing India and South Asia, said, "Through this partnership with AIESL (AI Engineering Services Limited), we continue to make strategic investments in India's MRO capabilities. These services will help enhance mission readiness rates for the Indian Navy."

Sharad Agarwal, CEO, AI Engineering Services Limited, said, "We are proud to partner with Boeing and successfully complete the landing gear overhaul of the P-8I aircraft for the first time in India. This is a significant step towards India's aspirations to become a regional hub for MRO services."
