Australia Suffer Double Blow Ahead of ODI Series Against India: Inglis, Zampa Miss First Match
Josh Inglis and Adam Zampa ruled out of the first ODI against India: Host Australia has suffered two major setbacks ahead of the upcoming ODI series against India. Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis has been ruled out of the first ODI due to a calf injury, while Adam Zampa has been ruled out due to family reasons.
With less than a week to go before the commencement of the ODI series between India and Australia, host nation Australia has been hit by two significant blows. Australian wicket-keeper batsman Josh Inglis has been injured out of the first ODI after suffering a calf injury, with Adam Zampa also set to be out due to family commitments. Cricket Australia has added wicket-keeper batsman Josh Philippe and spinner Matthew Kuhnemann to its squad for the first ODI of the series against India.
Josh Philippe was last seen playing an ODI for Australia back in 2021 against the West Indies. He will now take Josh Inglis' place after Inglis recovered from a calf injury which also kept him out of the New Zealand tour. Cricket Australia has informed that Zampa is expected to be available for the second ODI in Adelaide.
Apart from these two, Alex Carey will not be available for the first ODI to play in South Australia's Sheffield Shield match against Queensland next month in preparation for the Ashes. Carey will join the squad before the second ODI, and a Cricket Australia spokesperson expects Inglis to be available for the third ODI in Sydney on October 25.
