In the murder case of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Vikas Prabhakar alias Vikas Bagga in Punjab, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday filed a chargesheet against five other terrorists and the chief of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), Wadhwa Singh alias Babbar, who is based in Pakistan. On April 13, BKI terrorists shot and killed VHP leader Bagga at a candy store in Rupnagar, Punjab. In addition to Babbar, the primary suspects in the murder have been identified in the chargesheet submitted by the NIA as two more fugitives and three arrested individuals.

The identity of two out of the three arrested has been disclosed as shooters Mandeep Kumar alias Mangali and Surinder Kumar alias Rika, residents of Nawanshahr in Punjab. All three have been charged under various sections of the UA(P) Act, 120-B IPC, and Arms Act. Whereas third arrested accused Gurpreet Ram alias Gora has been booked under the Arms Act. All three were handlers of the arrested accused.

Presently, Babbar is in Pakistan. He had provided arms, ammunition, and money along with Harjeet Singh alias Ladi and Kulbir Singh alias Sidhu for the attack. NIA took over this case from state police on May 9. During the investigation, they found the involvement of BKI in the murder. As per the investigation by NIA, BKI members spread over various countries had joined hands to commit the murder. It also unraveled that Wadhawa Singh from Pakistan had instructed Harjeet Singh and Kulbir Singh to commit the murder. In the murder, the role of Dubai-based logistics providers and India-based arms suppliers has also come to light. Investigation into this murder is continuing.
