Border Security Force (BSF) personnel from Meghalaya have apprehended six Bangladeshis. A few of them were earlier engaged as masons in Mumbai. Officials revealed on Sunday that all these six individuals were apprehended on Saturday when they arrived in Meghalaya from Bangladesh with the aim of traveling again from there to Mumbai in search of work.

He said BSF personnel acted upon secret intelligence and arrested six Bangladeshis, four from the West Jaintia Hills district and two from the South Garo Hills district. A BSF official revealed there was a female among them who was going to proceed to Mumbai for her husband's treatment.

Police said that in the early hours of Saturday, a group of unidentified miscreants vandalized several houses near the international border in Umkiang village of East Jaintia Hills district and it is suspected that these miscreants are Bangladeshi citizens. According to the police, an FIR has been lodged in this regard by the village head. The village head said that the miscreants fled with many things of the villagers. The police have started investigating the incident.
