Porsche Taycan EV recalled in India; Know the reason behind it
Porsche Recall: The latest recall for the Porsche Taycan EV comes as part of a larger recall for the electric car in global markets.
One of the most interesting electric luxury cars in India, Porsche Taycan has issued a voluntary recall for the Taycan EV in the country. The German performance carmaker has recalled over 176 units of the Porsche Taycan electric sedan due to a potential defect in the battery cell or module.
Porsche Taycan EVs manufactured between October 21, 2019, and March 4, 2024, are the potentially affected electric cars that have been recalled by the auto company. Porsche has found that the Taycan EVs produced in the stated period may have a faulty battery module supplier system. This defect may cause a short circuit within the battery module. And the electric vehicle may also catch fire after thermal throttling.
The latest recall for the Porsche Taycan EV has come as part of the larger recall for the electric car in global markets. Over 27,500 units of the Porsche Taycan EV have been recalled globally this October, manufactured during the above period. It was recalled in the international market in October 2024. This recall came with the recall of the sister brand Audi, too, which also included the Audi e-tron GT and Audi RS e-tron GT. These were produced between 2022 and 2024. Audi electric cars have been called back due to issues related to their batteries. There could be a chance of a fire due to this issue.
This is not the first time that the Porsche Taycan EV has faced an issue. Earlier, in June this year, the carmaker had recalled all Taycan globally due to possible brake failure. "The affected Taycan EVs will display a warning light on the dashboard," the automaker said then. The carmaker did not reveal the exact number of Taycan EVs affected by the recall then. However, more than 150,000 units of the EV were affected by the recall worldwide. The company said that a problem with the front brake hoses was connected with cracks in a small number of Taycan EVs. This could lead to the leakage of brake fluid which may reduce brake pressure and system performance.
