The government has swung into action following public outrage over the cancellation of a large number of Vistara Airlines flights and flight delays. DGCA, which monitors aviation services, has taken cognizance of this matter. In fact, in recent days many flights had to be cancelled due to the unavailability of pilots.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, DGCA said, "Given the prevailing situation, information and details for cancellations and delays of flights have been sought from the airlines. DGCA officials are also monitoring the situation."

On Monday, the airline Vistara cancelled about fifty flights. Some 160 aircraft took off late. On Tuesday, there will likely be about 70 cancelled flights. Vistara customers may experience issues if this occurs. Reliable sources claim that Vistara Airlines flies over 300 domestic and international routes. The airline intends to reduce the backlog of impacted passengers by deploying larger Dreamliners and Airbus A321s on domestic routes.

Under the merger of Air India and Vistara Airlines, preparations are being made to bring the crew of both companies under one salary structure. According to media reports, under the new system, Vistara pilots will get a fixed salary for 40 hours of flying. Also, they will be paid separately for additional hours of flight. Currently, Vistara pilots are paid a salary of 70 hours per flight. According to experts in the matter, many pilots of Vistara Airlines have become angry with the new salary structure because it will reduce their salary.
