According to a notification from Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President, acting on the advice of the Prime Minister, has accepted Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation and assigned the additional charge of the Education Ministry to Pralhad Joshi. Joshi will now handle the Education Ministry alongside his existing ministerial portfolios.

Joshi's political career began with work at the local level in Karnataka. He first grabbed headlines in the early 1990s during public protests against the hoisting of the national flag at the Idgah Maidan in Hubballi. Since then, he has been carving out a political identity in the region through such protests.

Pralhad Joshi won his first Lok Sabha seat from Dharwad in 2004. Voters re-elected him, and he subsequently became an MP in 2009, 2014, 2019, and again in 2024.
