The cost of CNG in Mumbai and MMR has once again increased in wake of unrest in the West Asian countries and uncertainty in the energy markets. The retail price of CNG has gone up by Rs. 2 per kg.

The revised price list came into effect at midnight on 29th May, 2026. The price of CNG in Mumbai has increased from Rs. 84 to Rs. 86 per kg. It would impact the private car drivers, taxi and auto drivers, and other commercial vehicles. The company has issued instructions to all dealers to implement the revised rates.

Earlier, on May 14, CNG prices were increased by Rs 2 per kilogram. This is the second price hike in just 17 days. MGL currently supplies CNG to several areas, including Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Chitradurga, Davangere, Latur, and Osmanabad.

Meanwhile, petrol and diesel prices are also seeing a steady increase. On Monday, petrol became costlier by Rs 2.61 per liter and diesel by Rs 2.71 per liter. This was the fourth increase in the last two weeks. In Mumbai, petrol is currently selling for Rs 111.21 per liter and diesel for Rs 97.83 per liter.

The increase in fuel prices is due to the efforts by the central government to reduce the costs involved in importing oil and reduce the use of fuels. The conflict between the countries began when the United States and Israel conducted attacks against Iran on February 28. Iran retaliated by attacking US bases in Israel and the Middle East.

The US-Iran conflict has affected oil and LNG supplies through the Strait of Hormuz, which handles approximately 20 percent of global oil and LNG supplies. International energy prices remain volatile due to the supply disruptions.
