Sony will soon release the latest model of their 5G phones which is named the Xperia 1 VIII. Sony has already announced the date and time of the release which falls on May 13th at 11:00 AM in Japan time. In addition to the latest phone from Sony, the A7r VI full-frame camera, and a new 100-400mm f/4.5 GM lens could be revealed.

Sony has provided the following message, “When brilliance comes full circle, the next one is coming.” According to the analysts, Sony will most likely announce the next iteration of its smartphones as part of the Xperia 1 series which means the Xperia 1 VIII would become a new flag ship for Sony.

Reports suggest the Xperia 1 VIII may feature a slightly wider and thicker body design. Furthermore, a new square camera module could be found on the rear panel, making its design distinct. The camera system may also include an upgraded telephoto sensor.

Reports suggest the phone may feature a 16mm ultra-wide camera and a 24mm primary wide-angle camera. Sony may also focus more on battery life this time, with the phone expected to deliver a 2-day battery life.

Specifications suggest the Xperia 1 VIII could feature a 6.5-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, FHD+ resolution, and HDR support. For performance, the phone is expected to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor.

The phone is also expected to pack up to 12GB of RAM. Furthermore, the phone is expected to launch in several new color options, including Graphite Black, Iolite Silver, Garnet Red, and Native Gold.
