Gujarat Titans scripted their largest victory in the 65th game of the IPL 2026 season against Chennai Super Kings by an amazing 89 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The victory brought them to second position on the points chart, making them strong contenders for Qualifier 1. Sai Sudharsan played a major role in helping them win the game by scoring 84 runs.
He scored 7 boundaries and 4 maximums during his innings. This was Sai Sudharsan's fifth consecutive fifty in the IPL. Prior to him, there had been just one Indian batsman who could do that. In doing so, he surpassed Virat Kohli’s record of four consecutive 50+ scores in the IPL. Sai Sudarshan also equaled Virender Sehwag's record of five consecutive 50+ scores while playing for the Delhi Capitals in 2012.
Sai Sudarshan has now become only the second Indian batsman to achieve this feat in the IPL. Jos Buttler (2018) and David Warner (2019) also achieved this feat. This innings also made him the first batsman to reach 600 runs this season, achieving this feat for the second consecutive time. It should be noted that Sai Sudarshan also scored more than 600 runs in IPL 2025. In IPL 2025, Sai Sudarshan won the Orange Cap by scoring 759 runs in 15 innings.
This season, he also won the Orange Cap thanks to his 84-run innings against CSK. Furthermore, Gujarat Titans also holds the record for two batsmen from the same team scoring 600+ runs in a single IPL season. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan have both scored 600+ runs this season. However, they also achieved this feat last season.
Currently, Sai Sudarshan has scored 638 runs in 14 matches this season at an average of 49, including 62 fours and 29 sixes. Shubman Gill is in second place with 616 runs.
