The CNG-powered variants of these MPVs will get a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine, a factory-installed CNG kit, and 60 liters capacity CNG storage tank in the boot area.

Kia had always intended to launch a CNG variant of its models in India. Till now, the Carens offered a CNG kit option; however, it was installed by the dealerships. The prices of the Carens and Carens Clavis with CNG kits are expected to be announced soon.

Talking about the CNG specifications, there will be a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine with an output of 93 hp and 123 Nm of torque, a 22 hp and 21 Nm reduction from the petrol variant of the car. Fuel efficiency figures haven't been disclosed yet; however, the estimated fuel efficiency should be in the range of 22-25 km/kg.

For carrying the extra load, Kia has tuned the suspension system as well as has upgraded the front disc brakes.Kia has also retained the undercarriage.

The Carens Clavis will be offered with a CNG kit in the HTE and HTE (O) variants, while the older Carens will only be offered in the Premium variant. The CNG versions of both MPVs will only feature 16-inch wheels. It's worth noting that the older Carens already had a CNG kit option, but it was only fitted at dealer stores.

The 60-liter CNG tank is mounted under the boot floor, which means it takes up some boot space – down to 116 liters from the petrol variant's 216 liters. To handle the additional tank's weight, Kia has retuned the suspension and upgraded the front disc brakes.
