A tipster states that the OnePlus 16 is currently undergoing tests with a high refresh rate display, very thin bezels, and an innovative 200 megapixels periscope telephoto camera. Additionally, a unique AI button is rumored to come with the OnePlus 16.

According to one recent Weibo post published by a tipster known as Smart Pikachu and later removed, there will be some upgrades in the OnePlus 16, namely a 185 Hz display. While previous reports suggested that the phone could come with a refresh rate as high as 240Hz, the latest leak suggests a slightly lower figure.

But even at 185Hz, the OnePlus 16 could offer the highest refresh rate of any OnePlus phone to date. The flagship OnePlus 15 and several other new models come with 165Hz screens.

The tipster also claims that this alleged handset will have extremely thin bezels all around. Previous leaks have indicated that it could feature a flat OLED display with a 1.5K resolution.

Camera upgrades could be another major feature of this phone. The OnePlus 16 could feature a 3x periscope telephoto camera with a 200-megapixel sensor. The leak also mentions the inclusion of a dedicated AI button on the front. However, details regarding its functionality have not yet been revealed.

Previous reports have suggested that the OnePlus 16 could be powered by Qualcomm's next-generation Snapdragon flagship chipset, expected to succeed the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. This could be the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, clocked at up to 5GHz.

Its screen is expected to use LTPO and LIPO packaging technology, which will help reduce bezels to approximately 1mm on all sides. The handset is also said to feature a significantly larger battery than the previous model, with some reports claiming a capacity of 7,000mAh.

While the company has not yet confirmed the official release date of the OnePlus 16, it is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2026, as the OnePlus 15 also debuted around this time.
