The Second World Humanoid Robot Games (Robot Olympics) kicked off Saturday in Beijing, China's capital city. Over 2,000 humanoid robots, representing more than 650 teams from 16 countries, are taking part in this five-day competition. These Humanoid Olympics will involve a number of sporting events ranging from robot races, football, table tennis, athletics, kickboxing and industrial games.
Among the events held during the first day are the 400 meters and 1500 meters races in the fully autonomous category, where the robots run without any remote control. In addition, a humanoid Chinese robot known as Galbot made a lawn tennis diving move which stunned everyone watching the ceremony.
