Second seed Alexander Zverev kept himself alive in the French Open with an impressive 7-6 (3), 6-1, 6-3 victory over Rafael Zoder. As a result, Zverev qualifies into the semifinals of the Roland Garros for the fifth time in six years. The match was very challenging for him; Zverev managed to turn around and secure his win in just 2 hours and 17 minutes of playtime.

Zoder was in form despite reaching the quarterfinals and leading among the most clay court victories this year with 19 wins. He broke the serve to go up by 5-2 on the scoreboard. Zverev reacted fast and went on to win five out of the next six games. That put him in a tiebreak situation and after that he started pulling ahead by winning the set with a score of 3-3 by taking four consecutive points.

Afterwards, Zverev was simply too good for Zoder. He secured 71% of his points when playing his first-serve and used his effective forehands to win seven consecutive games while starting from 1-1 in the second set and took a two-set lead, taking control of the match.

Zverev has lost just one set in five matches here this year, and now that heavyweights like Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic have been eliminated, Zverev can consider himself a strong contender for his first Grand Slam. Zverev's next match will be against either Jakub Mensik or João Fonseca.

After the match, Zverev said, "It was very difficult. He was in good form in the first set. I was too far behind and playing too defensively. The ball wasn't bouncing as high, so I had to play a little more direct. I want to keep moving forward. I want to stay in the tournament. I want to win the matches I haven't won (before). That's my goal. I feel like today was a tough test for me against a very good player. I passed it, I won. I'm happy to be in the semifinals.
