The Central Government on Saturday appointed academician Joram Aniya and author Dr.R.Balasubramanian as full-time members of NITI Aayog. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the ex-officio Chairman of NITI Aayog.
According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Secretariat, the Prime Minister has approved the appointment of Dr. R. Balasubramanian and Dr. Joram Aniya as full-time members of NITI Aayog. The Prime Minister congratulated both new members.
The Prime Minister posted on X, "Their (Balasubramanian and Aniya's) extensive experience and in-depth understanding of various issues will strengthen the policymaking process. I am confident that their contributions will accelerate innovation and development in all sectors."
The appointment of Aniya marks history since she will get an opportunity to serve as an eminent intellectual of Arunachal Pradesh in the nation's topmost body for policymaking.
Joram Aniya is an academic, associate professor, and member of the Arunachal Pradesh Private Education Regulatory Commission. She has 18 years of experience as a teacher, researcher, and policy-maker.
She is the first woman of the Nishi community to receive a PhD degree. Besides, she is also the first woman of the state to receive a PhD in the Hindi language. She has made significant contributions to literature and culture, authoring and editing several books.
Scholar-author Balasubramaniam is a public policy expert. Besides being a physician, he is the founder of the Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement and the Grassroots Research and Advocacy Movement (GRAM).
Balasubramaniam holds a Master's degree in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School of Harvard University.
On April 24, the government reorganized the NITI Aayog, appointing Ashok Kumar Lahiri as Vice Chairman and economist K.V. Raju, AIIMS Director M. Srinivas, Department of Science and Technology Secretary Abhay Karandikar, scientist Gobardhan Das and former Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba were appointed as full-time members.
