Air India’s Bengaluru-Delhi flight raised concern Thursday evening following the reported engine fire. According to Jagran, an urgent landing had to be made at the Delhi airport following the reported problem. Fortunately for the passengers, everybody on board is said to be safe.
According to Jagran, there were suspicions of a possible engine fire or technical fault mid-air, which prompted the pilot to alert the air traffic and make an emergency landing at the Delhi Airport.
Earlier Thursday, Air India’s AI2651 flight bound for Bengaluru from Delhi suffered a tail strike on landing. The aircraft's tail reportedly came into contact with the ground as it landed safely. The plane carried 181 passengers. A tailstrike occurs when the tail of the aircraft touches the ground during takeoff or landing.
Following the incident, the return flight AI2652 from Bengaluru to Delhi was cancelled. Air India said alternative arrangements were being made to accommodate the affected passengers. The aircraft was grounded for a detailed inspection. The spokesperson said the incident would be investigated as per established procedures in coordination with regulatory authorities.
The airline said its ground teams in Bengaluru were providing all necessary assistance. "The inconvenience is regretted. The safety of passengers and crew is our top priority," the spokesperson said in a statement. More details regarding the investigation are awaited.
