Guwahati, July 31 — Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani has contributed Rs 11 crore to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support relief and rehabilitation efforts for people affected by the severe floods that have impacted several parts of the state, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Friday.
In a post on X, Sarma expressed gratitude to the industrialist for extending assistance at a time when Assam is confronting one of its most challenging flood situations in recent years. He said he was “heartened” to learn that Adani had made an online contribution of Rs 11 crore to strengthen the state’s ongoing relief operations for flood-affected families.
The Chief Minister also noted what he described as Adani’s quiet and compassionate approach to philanthropy, observing that the contribution had been made without seeking public attention. Apart from the financial assistance, Sarma said Adani is mobilising additional resources to support relief work for thousands of affected families on the ground.
“He has not only made this generous contribution but is also quietly mobilising resources to support relief efforts for thousands of affected families on the ground,” Sarma wrote. He added that Adani’s concern for the people of Assam and his willingness to stand by them during a humanitarian crisis reflected a commitment towards the state.
Sarma pointed out that donations to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund have continued to arrive from individuals, organisations and institutions across different sections of society since the floods caused widespread devastation in several districts. Reaffirming the government’s commitment to transparency, he assured contributors that every rupee received would be utilised responsibly for relief, rehabilitation and rebuilding the lives of those affected.
He also conveyed appreciation to the Adani Group for its support to the people of Assam during the crisis.
Assam has experienced extensive flooding in recent weeks, with thousands of people displaced and significant damage reported to homes, roads, embankments, agricultural land and public infrastructure across multiple districts. The contribution forms part of the broader inflow of assistance directed towards the state’s relief and recovery efforts.
