The Income Tax Department has fixed December 15, 2023, as the last date for paying advance tax. This means that taxpayers who have not yet paid advance tax have only today's chance. If any taxpayers do not pay taxes on time then they may have to face problems in the future. Apart from this, they may have to pay fines and interest.

Under Section 208 of the Income Tax Act 1961, any taxpayer whose estimated tax liability after tax deduction is more than Rs 10,000. They must pay advance tax. If taxpayers do not pay this tax then interest will have to be paid as a penalty. This interest is charged at the rate of 1 percent per month or a portion of the tax.

Senior citizens who have no income. They have been exempted from advance tax.

How to fill advance tax online:

  • First of all, you have to go to the e-filing portal of the Indian Income Tax Department.
  • After this, you have to click on 'e-pay tax' on the home page.
  • Now enter your PAN Card number and enter it again to confirm.
  • After this, you have to enter your mobile number on which 6-digit OTP will come.
  • After entering the OTP, you have to select Income Tax.
  • Now after selecting the assessment year 2024-25, click on the advance tax option.
  • After this, you have to enter all the necessary information.
  • Now select the payment mode and make the payment.
  • After making the payment, an acknowledgment slip will be shown on the screen, keep it safe. This will be very useful while filing ITR in the future.
