There have been many highlights in the career of England's captain Harry Kane, one such highlight being the receipt of the highly regarded Ballon d'Or. After this recognition, he received congratulations from all over the world, however, the message that was particularly meaningful to him was from Virat Kohli, who plays cricket for India. Harry shared that apart from Kohli, some other personalities including David Beckham, Tom Brady, and Ed Sheeran also congratulated him. The messages from these legends moved him.

At the press conference before the Champions League match between Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid, Kane was asked if any special person's congratulatory message surprised him. The England captain mentioned Virat Kohli. Kane said, "Many of the people I look up to sent me messages. Legends like David Beckham, Tom Brady, and Virat Kohli, along with my good friend Ed Sheeran, congratulated me. I'm incredibly grateful for every single message."

He further added, "I think I underestimated how many people wanted to see me win this award. You expect your friends and family to be happy for you, but the outpouring of love on social media and messages from people who didn't even have my number overwhelmed me. It made me realize how big this achievement was and how many people were genuinely happy for me."

A day after Harry Kane won the Ballon d'Or, Virat Kohli wrote a special message for him on the social media platform X. Kohli praised Kane's hard work, patience, and dedication to the game, calling him deserving of this honor.

Kohli wrote, "Harry, my friend, you deserve every bit of this award." The patience, hard work, and integrity you have displayed over the years of playing football at the highest level is commendable. I am extremely happy for you. May God bless you and your family. They will be very proud of you, just as you will be on this journey. My best wishes are always with you. Congratulations.

Harry Kane became the fifth English player to win this prestigious award. He was preceded by Stanley Matthews (1956), Bobby Charlton (1966), Kevin Keegan (1978 and 1979), and Michael Owen (2001). Kane's stellar performances played a key role in England's third-place finish at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This was England's best performance in the tournament since winning the World Cup in 1966. He was also Europe's top scorer last season and won the Bundesliga title, the DFB-Pokal, and the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup with Bayern Munich. This added another major achievement to Kane's career with the Ballon d'Or.
