Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 opened in theatres on Thursday, and some of the first to cheer were his colleagues from the film industry. Several stars caught the first-day-first-show and took to social media with glowing reactions.

What the Stars Said

Dhanush: “JAILER 2 is a MUST MUST MUST watch. BLOCKBUSTER. A FEAST for every Thalaivar fan.”

Karthik Subbaraj: “Thalaivar sets the screen on Wild Wild Fire. Can’t take my eyes off him... Goosebumps Overloaded Mass Blast,” the director wrote, praising Nelson Dilipkumar’s writing and Anirudh’s “high octane energy in every frame.”

Vishnu Vishal: “WHAT A BLAST! The most I whistled for a Tamil film in recent times.. Total feast from Thalaivar... One Sun One Moon Only One Superstar!!!”

Naga Vamsi: The Telugu producer said the film was “packed with PEAK MASS SAMBAVAM moments from start to finish,” adding that Anirudh “went ALL OUT with his songs and BGM.”

Actor Soori was also among those spotted at the first show.

A Cast Few Films Can Match

Karthik Subbaraj’s post highlighted one of the film’s biggest talking points: its ensemble. Alongside Rajinikanth, Jailer 2 features:

“Whattey wonderful moment to see... all in one film,” Subbaraj wrote.

Why It Matters: A Pan-India Bet in the Festive Window

Jailer 2 is built for scale. By bringing together stars from four film industries, the sequel aims to draw audiences far beyond Tamil Nadu. Its release ahead of Dasara gives it a long festive weekend, though it will face competition in Telugu states from Vijay Deverakonda’s Ranabaali, which arrives on October 16.

Reactions from fellow stars are a strong early signal, but they are not reviews. The real verdict will come from audiences and box office numbers over the festive weekend.

Vishnu Vishal’s line “50 varshama” also nods to a milestone: Rajinikanth has completed five decades in cinema, making this release a celebration for fans.

Jailer 2 has opened to cheers from Tamil cinema’s biggest names. Whether it repeats the success of the first Jailer will be clear once the Dasara weekend box office numbers come in.
