In FY26, Tata Motors performed well. The company has established itself in petrol-diesel and electric vehicles. Some of the best-selling models include Nexon and Punch. The newly-launched Tata Sierra model is one of the best in the 4.2- to 4.5-meter SUV class.
According to Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, the company plans to release the Sierra EV in the second half of FY2026-27. With the launch of the Sierra EV, Tata Motors can increase its market share in the 4.2- to 4.5-meter SUV range.
The Sierra EV will play a crucial role in sustaining Tata's position in the electric vehicle market. Tata's EV market share was 40.2% in FY2026, and the company's total sales surpassed 250,000. Tata's EV portfolio now includes the Harrier and the new Punch EV.
The Sierra EV has been spotted on the roads during testing. It is expected to feature distinctive electric car design elements, such as a closed-off grille and new finishing on the lights and bumpers. It may also feature distinctive colors and EV-specific badging.
The Tata Safari EV is also slated for launch this year. It will be Tata's first 7-seater flagship electric SUV, competing against the Mahindra XEV 9S. It is expected to share the same battery options as the Harrier EV and could also feature a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup. It is also expected that the facelift models of Tiago EV and Tigor EV may hit the market this year.
