Jaguar has launched its first production electric GT and most powerful Jaguar yet — Type 01. The car delivers 1,015 hp and has a range of 720 km in WLTP tests.
It looks similar to the Type 00 concept, which we were already acquainted with. There is a brand-new strike-through front that reminds of a grille. Active shutters underneath help to keep the engine and battery pack cool. It has four-line DRLs and the thinnest ever Jaguar headlights, which make the car look beautiful.
The leaping Jaguar logo has disappeared from the hood. Nevertheless, the logo is positioned on brass-like panels on the fenders, emphasizing the distance between the front axle and A-pillar. This elongated area contains one of the five battery packs, and thus, there is a need to re-design the frontal part of the body.
The battery pack is split into five parts because the height of the car of only 1440mm could not contain a single battery between the front and rear pillars.
The cabin is divided into four zones by a central section that houses luggage storage and touchscreen controls for rear passengers. It features a single 24-inch display for driver information and infotainment, with driving information on the right and passenger-related features on the left.
It features a three-motor setup that generates 1,030 hp of power and 1,365 Nm of torque. The Jaguar Type 01 can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.2 seconds. It is powered by a 120 kWh NMC battery that claims a WLTP range of up to 720 km. Thanks to its 850-volt architecture, a 350 kW DC charger can deliver a range of up to 321 km in just 13 minutes.
Furthermore, the battery takes approximately 22 minutes to charge from 10 to 80%, and the twin AC charging ports on both sides of the car make charging easy.
