The Hyundai Bayon has made its entry into the Indian market. While launching the Bayon, the company also disclosed the information regarding the arrival of a CNG version. The launch of CNG version of the Bayon has been scheduled for January 2027. At present, the petrol engine version of the Bayon is available for sale. CNG version will join this soon. The SUV will come with the option of petrol and factory installed CNG engines.

The Bayon CNG launch is scheduled for January 2027. This will help the company in adding more powertrain options in the midsize SUV category. As the petrol version of the SUV is now available for sale, CNG version may come up as an additional offering for customers who care about the fuel options while buying an SUV. Still, the company has not disclosed any details of the CNG version including pricing and features.

The CNG version of the Hyundai Bayon is expected to feature the same 1.5-liter, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated engine as the petrol model. However, its power and torque output may be slightly lower when running on CNG compared to the petrol version. Currently, the petrol-powered Hyundai Bayon produces 115 hp and 144 Nm of torque. The CNG version is expected to come with a 6-speed manual gearbox. However, it is not yet clear whether a CVT automatic transmission will be available.

An important feature of the Hyundai Bayon CNG could be its potential underbody CNG tank. Like the CNG variant of the Maruti Victoria, Hyundai may also place the tank under the car's interior. The advantage of doing so would be that a CNG option could be made available without compromising boot space compared to the petrol version.

The Hyundai Bayon petrol variant starts at ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom). It is expected that the CNG variant will be priced slightly higher than the petrol model.
