Patna, July 29 — Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Wednesday announced the recruitment of 32,388 teachers under the fourth phase of the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4), confirming that the Education Department has forwarded the formal requisition to the Bihar Public Service Commission.
The Chief Minister described the drive as a significant step toward generating employment for the state’s youth and strengthening the education system. In a social-media post, he reiterated the government’s commitment to maximum employment generation and quality education as part of its broader development agenda.
The vacancies are distributed across four categories:
- Classes 1 to 5: 3,847 posts
- Classes 6 to 8: 8,563 posts
- Classes 9 to 10: 3,877 posts
- Classes 11 to 12: 16,101 posts
The largest allocation is for higher-secondary classes (11 and 12), accounting for more than 16,000 positions.
The announcement follows earlier statements by the Education Minister, who had informed the media that the TRE-4 requisition had already been sent to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat and that the final vacancy numbers would be disclosed by the Chief Minister. Wednesday’s confirmation ends a period of uncertainty for teaching aspirants across the state.
In a parallel measure, the state government launched a dedicated online transfer portal for serving teachers, effective 29 July. Teachers seeking transfers can now submit applications digitally. The Education Department stated that the entire process—from application to final approval—will be conducted online, with the aim of improving transparency, convenience and adherence to timelines. Officials expect the system to reduce procedural delays that have previously affected transfer requests.
Together, the large-scale recruitment and the digitisation of transfers form part of the administration’s stated effort to expand teaching capacity while streamlining internal administrative processes for existing staff. The BPSC is now expected to initiate the formal recruitment cycle on the basis of the requisition received.
