The quick adoption of Artificial Intelligence has brought fear amongst people throughout the world. A lot of them think that they would be jobless for the rest of their lives due to this technology. However, in this regard, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has recently made some comments. He believes that AI isn’t responsible for bringing about any great job loss.

Sam Altman made these comments at an important conference in Sydney on Tuesday. This conference was organized by the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA). At the conference, he had a exclusive conversation with the CBA chief executive, Matt Comyn.

Altman expressed his delight at being proven wrong. He had been apprehensive about the launch of ChatGPT in 2022. He thought many entry-level white-collar jobs would be eliminated. However, the impact on employment has been much less than anticipated.

Altman admitted that his predictions about the development of technology were accurate, but his miscalculations about its impact on society and the economy were incorrect. When asked about creating a fearful atmosphere, he clarified the situation. Altman said that at the time, it seemed like a real threat, so it was important to discuss it, and that this threat could persist in the future.

Today, major global companies like HSBC, Amazon, Standard Chartered, and CBA itself are using AI. These companies have acknowledged that some tasks are now being automated. Despite this, Altman believes that human interaction is essential in every task. Machines can't easily replace humans.

He also shared a funny story. He started using AI to respond to Slack and email. The AI's responses would say "Sam's AI." But after a while, Altman himself started responding. He said, "We really care about people. Human interaction is very important to us."
