Founder of Kolhapur-based JK Group recognised for four and a half decades of work modernising the agri commodities trade
Jitendrakumar (Jitu) Shah, a well-known name in India’s business community and the Founder of JK India eAgriTech Limited, who started out trading sugar from Kolhapur in 1981, has been honoured with the state-level “Excellence in Agri Commodities- Digital Transformation” award.
The recognition celebrates a journey that began right here in Kolhapur, where Shah founded JK Enterprise over four and a half decades ago. What started as a single trading desk in the city has since grown into the JK Group, now consolidated into JK India eAgriTech Limited, bringing technology and digital infrastructure into the sugar, bioenergy, and allied industries- work that carries Kolhapur’s trading legacy into a nationwide platform business.
The award was presented in the presence of chief guest Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Hon’ble Minister of Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Government of Maharashtra, a moment of pride for Kolhapur’s business community, as one of its own was recognised on a statewide platform.
Today, JK India eAgriTech Limited stands as a technology-enabled agri commodity enterprise spanning trade, market information, research, consulting and industry convening, a scale of operation that traces its roots directly back to a single trading desk in Kolhapur. The company was formally consolidated in 2020, bringing together the family’s decades of trading experience under one umbrella built around digital-first infrastructure for the sugar and allied agri sectors.
Through platforms including ChiniMandi, eBuySugar, AgriMandi, BioEnergyTimes and the Sugar – Ethanol & Bioenergy India Conference (SEIC), the company continues to connect sugar producers, traders, buyers, and allied stakeholders through digital trading infrastructure, market intelligence and industry news and forums.
Speaking on the recognition, Jitu Shah said, ” This recognition belongs to the entire JK India eAgriTech family and to every stakeholder who has stood with us. We have spent forty-five years in this trade, and everything we build today comes from that experience: technology that makes the agri ecosystem more transparent, more connected and more efficient. This award encourages us to keep building for the sugar and allied industries.”
