

Amidst stiff competition and challenges at every step of life, students
continue to surge ahead on the back of their sheer talent, knowledge and
skill. And in the process, they give every reason for their alma mater
to feel proud of their achievements. Stuti Bafna, student of 3rd year Journalism and Mass Communication
department, known for her aggressive initiatives, has published a
digital magazine, Indian Fourth Estate, on acid attacks during the
lockdown. The magazine has been instantly lapped up on the social media.
Acid attack is still one of the major crimes in India, more than 300
cases are reported every year but the number is actually more which goes
unreported every year, she says. Due to the current situation in the country, the students were not
allowed to go on the field for reporting but as they say where there is a
will there is a way, students took telephonic interviews and conducted
live sessions inviting various personalities on the show called Chalo
Chit Chat Karein.
The magazine includes special stories of Acid attack survivors - Rupa
Saa, Pramodini Roul, Kavita, Jeetu and many more, Opinions from the
Author Meghna Pant, Journalist Kamini Arya, Rupashi Singh and
Academician Suman Sharma and special interviews of Founder of Sheroes
Alok Dixit, Senior Plastic surgeon Dr. Vivek Saxena, Nirbhaya's mother
Asha Devi, Transgender Dhananjay Chauhan, Padma Shri award winner
Premlata Agarwal, Dog Man Viren Sharma, Mrs. Asia International- Dr.
Anupama Soni.
Also, the magazine has a wide research about the acid attack from the
countries like United Kingdom, South America, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
"India is one the most treacherous countries for women in the world,
Laws cannot do everything, awareness is much needed" says Stuti Bafna,
Editor- in- Chief of the magazine Indian Fourth Estate. "This magazine will become the voice of the voiceless", she added. She has also directed the Film Kasoor which portrays how women are
treated in India and how Eve teasing, provoking and bullying could
convert into crimes like acid attack.
The team has been conducting media literacy workshops in different areas. She has published this magazine under the guidance of her mentor Pandit
Amandeep and her team members- Sadiq Khan, Pulkit Sharma, Shivam Pathak,
Daisy Sharma, Laveena Giamalani, Vashali Singh, Priya Yadav, Bhavik
Jain, Rishabh Jain.
