Anthropic, which is known for offering cutting-edge features in artificial intelligence (AI) on an ongoing basis, has unveiled a new AI model named Cloud Opus 5.5. As per the claims of the company, it offers performance equal to its best-performing Fable 5.1 but is 40 percent cheaper than the previous model.

After the unveiling of this AI model on Tuesday, Anthropic announced that Opus 5.5 had been pre-tested by independent security research groups for AI Frontier Design and METR. The model has got security features that have been implemented for its most advanced models.

As per Anthropic, Opus 5.5 surpasses its competitor, GPT-5.6 Sol of OpenAI, in software development tests, although it consumes only one-third as many resources as GPT-5.6. Opus 5.5 is priced at $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens, which is 20 percent lower than Opus 5. The model is available on platforms like Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.

The company launched this model at a time when the risks associated with AI are being debated. Earlier this month, CEO Dario Amodei urged the global AI community to slow down the pace of introducing new capabilities due to security concerns.
