New Zealand has received yet another blow. Lockie Ferguson is yet another player who has been sidelined due to an injury ahead of the fourth T20 International match between New Zealand and India at Eden Park. Due to the injury, Ferguson has been ruled out of all the upcoming matches of the ongoing T20 series against India. Matt Fisher has been picked for the team in his place. It is said that Ferguson developed pain in his right calf muscle during the second T20I at Hagley Oval.

According to a press release from New Zealand Cricket released on Thursday, Ferguson needs around a week to come back to action after being declared unfit for a week. Matt Henry too was checked out for developing pain in his right quadriceps during the second T20I. He had sustained a minor injury which would require him a week to recover.

New Zealand head coach Rob Walter said, "We are saddened for Lockie and Matt. Injuries are part of international cricket, but it's not easy when you have to miss matches. The good news is that Matt was already scheduled to miss the remaining T20Is due to his extensive summer schedule, and we hope he will play a key role in the ODI series. Lockie was very excited to play in front of a full home crowd at Eden Park yesterday, but he is due back for the ODIs.

Matt Henry, who was scheduled to return to the team for the upcoming ODI series due to planned workload management, is still on track to be fit. Meanwhile, Kyle Jamieson will remain in Wellington as part of his planned workload management and will be available for the second round of the Ford Trophy against Canterbury on Saturday. He will then rejoin the national team on Monday for the ODI series. India have already won the series with an unassailable 3-0 lead. The fourth T20I will be played at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday.
