The number of people travelling by air in the nation has increased. About this rise, Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia stated that by 2030, 300 million domestic passengers will be expected in India. In 2023, or last year, there were 153 million domestic passengers.
Speaking at the opening of the Wings India 2024 Civil Aviation Conclave and Exhibition, he predicted that the nation's airport and water port count will rise from the current 149 to over 200 in the upcoming years. In addition, he predicted that between 10% and 15% of India's population would use aeroplanes. India's aviation industry will do well in such a situation.
Jyotiraditya Scindia said in this function that in the last decade, domestic air passenger traffic has seen a CAGR of 15 per cent. At the same time, at the international level, there was an increase of 6.1 per cent.
In the last 15 years, there has been a growth of 60 per cent in domestic cargo and 53 per cent growth in international cargo. The event also saw talks between Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation General VK Singh and Telangana Minister K Venkat Reddy.
